✏️ Why Email Marketing Is A Must
Especially for cannabis & psychedelics businesses
Imagine this:
Your Instagram gets shuts down ‘cause you’ve been posting cannabis flower and using trigger words.
Your carefully curated feed — all gone.
Your thousands of subscribers?
Dusted.
Your loyal customers?
Lost, marooned on the internet, with no way to find you.
Don’t let this become a reality.
Start your email marketing strategy. Like, yesterday.
✉️ You’ve got mail! ✉️
Here are a few stats about email marketing.
Just take them in, one by one.
Email marketing has a return on investment (ROI) of $42 for every $1 spent (Source)
Personalized emails deliver 6 times higher transaction rates, yet 70% of brands fail to use them (Source)
Automated emails generate 320% more revenue than non-automated emails (Source)
Nearly 50% of all emails are opened on mobile devices (Source)
Segmented email lists result in higher open rates, lower unsubscribe rates, and greater overall engagement (Source)
Email marketing should be a huge pillar of your marketing strategy, especially if you’re working in the cannabis and psychedelics space. Here’s why:
Own your audience
This applies to every industry, tbh.
When you’re on Instagram, LinkedIn, or any other social media platform, you don’t actually own that audience, and any disruption to the platform can cause you to lose your valued followers — and your connection to them.
If the only way you’re getting your message to your customers is through social media, it’s time to rethink the bit.
Get a little closer
Email marketing helps foster a deeper connection to your audience. You can get a little more intimate with them, offer exclusive deals in your emails, early access, and use your audience information to segment them further, get to know them better, and even consider building out a loyalty program.
Freedom!
This is KEY for cannabis and psychedelics businesses.
While social media is pretty important, there’s no denying those strict rules and regulations that those of us working in the biz have to deal with. The countless beautiful posts that we’ve had to delete because Meta’s AI flagged them— don’t get us started 😭
Email, on the other hand, offers a bit of a looser leash.
It’s typically subject to fewer restrictions compared to social media.
Brands and retailers have more control over their email lists and content, allowing them to communicate directly with their audience without the risk of being flagged or banned by platform moderators (and, eventually, unfortunately, being kicked off).
Moreover, email marketing platforms often provide tools to ensure compliance with legal requirements such as age verification, consent, and opt-out options. This helps those in the canna-biz stick to regulations (like the Cannabis Act in Canada) while still reaching the target audience.k
